Beating the Odds with Katniss

Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) both live in District 12, the poorest of all the districts, hunting and doing whatever it takes to keep their families alive.

Keeping their families alive sometimes includes breaking the Capitol’s laws. Speaking of the Capitol, every year they hold an annual Hunger Games to remind them of the war that took place in the past. The Capitol picks a boy and a girl from each district to fight to the death on live television.

Katniss’ little sister is picked, but Katniss volunteers to take her place, along with the boy tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Now Katniss and Peeta have to fight for survival in the 74th Hunger Games.

“May the odds be ever in your favor.” –Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks)

What makes this movie good is all the suspense. Right when you think something is going to happen, it doesn’t or when you don’t think something is going to happen, it does.

Also, it makes you feel what the characters are feeling. You get a connection of what’s going on and how everyone is feeling about what’s going on. You get drawn in to the movie, and you just don’t want to stop watching. This movie is a great movie to watch if you like suspense or if you like to relate to the movie.
